Acer launches first-ever 17-inch Chromebook

Computer maker Acer has announced four new Chromebook lines, including the world’s first 17-inch model, the Acer Chromebook 317.

The Chromebook 317 has a screen diagonal of 17.3-inch to be precise. The Full HD display is equipped with an anti-reflective coating, has narrow bezels and includes (optionally) a webcam. A touch screen version is also available.

Numeric keypad

Due to the larger size of the Chromebook 317, Acer replaced the keyboard with a separate numerical keyboard for, among other things, accounting functions and faster form filling. On the sides of the keyboard, which offers optional backlighting, are upward-firing speakers.

Also onboard are the latest Intel Celeron processors, Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) and two USB 3.2 Type-C ports, one on each side of the Chromebook. The battery lasts up to ten hours per charge. The Acer Chromebook 317 (type number CB317-1H) will be available from June from 399 euros.

Evo certified

Also worth mentioning are the Acer Chromebook Spin 713 and Enterprise Spin 713. These are the first Chromebooks to be certified for the Intel Evo platform. They use 11th generation Intel Core i7 processors and feature Thunderbolt 4 connections for data transfer, power delivery and sharing of video and audio to external displays.

Furthermore, the Spin Chromebooks have a 13.5-inch VertiView display with a resolution of 2,256 x 1,504 pixels. The autonomy of the battery also clocks in at ten hours. Target prices start at 629 euros.
